Aerospace High Fliers Get Hands-on Experience at Aircraft Production Facility
In a field trip lasting just over 24 hours, several Concordia High School students traveled to Textron Aviation in Shijiazhuang.
The visitors were hosted by Mike Shih, Textron Aviation’s Vice President in charge of Strategy and Business Development in China. Textron Aviation is the only aircraft general aviation manufacturer in China and is behind many aircraft types. It is well known through its brands, Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker, based in Wichita, Kansas. Textron Aviation’s facility here shares many connections with local partners, including production proximity, so students were exposed to a range of manufacturing stages.
Aerospace Engineering teacher Dr Peter Tong and Journalism teacher Brian Lavender joined the students for this intensive learning session. This short documentary captures the feel of the behind-the-scenes look at aircraft manufacturing in China.
The support of the Concordia Fund for this venture is greatly appreciated.
